Epoxy resin is a reaction product of polyhydric alcohol and epichlorohydrin in presence of strong base. The most common epoxy resins are based on reacting epichlorohydrin (ECH) with bisphenol A, resulting in a different chemical substance known as bisphenol A diglycidyl ether (commonly known as BADGE or DGEBA).

Epoxy resin used in many applications such as paint and coatings, adhesive, electrical systema and electronics, construction application, wind turbine technology composites, industrial tooling and composites, aerospace application, consumer and marine applications, and art.

Epoxy resin is very popular for its corrosion resistance, excellent chemical resistance and mechanical properties, good solvent resistance, adheres to a variety of substrates, electrically insulative, minimal shrinkage, and low toxicity.

Polyamide resins are reaction products of polybasic acids and polyamines. A polyamide is a polymer that contains recurring amide groups (R―CO―NH―R′) as integral parts of the main polymer chain. Polyamide resins can be either reactive or non-reactive. Reactive polyamide contains reactive hydrogen covalently bonded with nitrogen (amine group).

Reactive polyamides are used as curing agents for epoxies. Nylon 6, 6 is the most used non-reactive polyamide resin. Synthetic polyamides are commonly used in textiles, automotive industry, carpets, kitchen utensils and sportswear due to their high durability and strength.

Polyamide resins are known for excellent adhesion, durability, exceptional hardness, good impact strength, and high abrasion resistance.

Polyamine resins are amine curing agents used for room temperature cure epoxy resins. The amines used for preparation of polyamines can be aliphatic, aromatic, or cycloaliphatic amines.

Polyamine resins are used as curing agents for epoxy resin system used in paint and coatings, flooring, tank lining, and adhesives.

Polyamine resins are known for excellent chemical resistance, good solvent resistance, high crosslinking density results in good film strength and high abrasion resistance.

Polyamine-cured epoxies are tough, more chemical resistant, brittle, and provide improved abrasion resistance whereas polyamide cured epoxies provide better flexibility, better abrasion resistance, improved corrosion resistance, and are relatively safer to use compared to polyamines.

Urea-formaldehyde is a type of amino resin which is synthesized by condensation reaction of urea and formaldehyde. Urea-formaldehyde is available in butylated, methylated, and ethylated form.

Melamine-formaldehyde is a type of amino resin which is synthesized by condensation reaction of formaldehyde and melamine. Melamine-formaldehyde is available in butylated, methylated, and ethylated form.

Amino resins are used in epoxy resin systems, coil and can coating, wood coatings and OEM coatings.
